No. The app is native, ultra-light and idles when nothing moves.
None by default. Window detection never uses window content or titles. Modes are opt-in: calendar access for Assistant, and for Focus the browser extension, which needs no system permission.
Four useful, optional companions: Coding agents (your critter pings you when your agent — Claude Code, Codex — is waiting for a permission), Assistant (calendar reminders), Focus (time budgets per site, with an in-page invasion if you overdo it) and Friends (emotes, letters and desktop visits).
No. It only ever knows the domain — example.com — never the full address, your page titles or content. The domain comes solely from the browser extension you install yourself, on macOS as on Windows; the app never reads the tab itself and asks for no Automation permission. Safari has no extension: on that browser, no site is detected. Nothing leaves your computer.
Toplings is on the Microsoft Store, for Windows 10 and 11 in 64-bit — that is the easiest route. The MSI installer is still available on the direct downloads page: same app, but it is not signed, so Windows shows “Windows protected your PC”; click “More info”, then “Run anyway”.
Yes! A drawing, original character, portrait, animal or plush toy: send one to three images of the same subject. Use images you created or have permission to use. Public figures are not accepted; the image AI may decline a well-known character, in which case your generation is returned.
A male and a female from your own flock, of the same or different species. Toplings created from images and those born through breeding can also become parents once hatched.
Image-based creations can be ordered from the website or the app. Breeding takes place in the app’s laboratory, where you choose parents from your flock. Each workshop shows its current availability in its creation area.
Getting started is free. Gold packs, certain premium species and laboratory creations are optional purchases.
